Research has indicated that an inextricable chemical link exists between our emotions, including all the stress in our lives -- both good and bad -- and the regulatory systems of the endocrine and immune systems through the central nervous system.

When strong emotions such as fear is not dealt with in a healthy way…
the body’s natural response is that of the sympathetic nervous system, as demonstrated in Walter B. Cannon’s research on homoeostasis and the “fight or flight” syndrome. Inappropriate storing of these stressful emotions produces an excess of epinephrine, and this causes a chemical breakdown, resulting in the internal weakening of the immune system and in every thought, emotion, idea or belief, which is what drives fears, lack of confidence, and self-sabotage.
The conscious mind is estimated to take up 12% of our minds. What we consciously perceive or believe is not always the same as what our subconscious believes. The subconscious mind, estimated to be the remaining 88%, is like a computer hard drive. It contains our memories, habits, beliefs, characteristics and self-image.
When a recurring subconscious thought is relayed within the message system of the body, the body becomes conditioned. The reason belief work is so effective is because it allows us to change the messages that are sent to the body, which changes how we engage with and experience life in a more empowering way.
